About ZelfJaarrekening.nl and who is behind it

ZelfJaarrekening.nl is a tool that lets you prepare your own annual accounts: step by step through your figures, with the checks and the documents that go with them. Below you can read who builds it, what it does and does not do, and how we handle your data.

Who builds it

The tool is built and maintained by Woodlands Administration, a sole trader (eenmanszaak) in Bloemendaal (KVK 94490171, VAT ID NL005086896B69). It is not an accountancy firm or a tax advisory firm: it is software, built by someone who had to prepare annual accounts himself and thought it should be possible to do it yourself without missing the mandatory parts.

What the tool does

• Guide you step by step through the parts of the annual accounts: balance sheet, profit and loss account, accounting policies, notes and signing.
• Calculate the figures: totals, ratios, working capital, the taxable profit calculation and — for a BV — the corporation tax.
• Check whether your balance sheet balances and whether your equity reconciles with the result.
• Prepare the texts that belong with them, with the legal basis included.
• Deliver your annual accounts and the KVK publication documents as a PDF.

What the tool does not do

This is not an accountancy service and not tax advice. That is not caution for form’s sake, but an honest boundary:

• We do not issue an audit, review or compilation report; only a registered accountant (RA or AA) may do that.
• We do not assess your bookkeeping for completeness. If the tool calculates with what you enter, a missing invoice or a forgotten private withdrawal is not visible.
• We do not advise on your tax choices, such as a depreciation period or a provision.
• The responsibility for the figures and the documents remains with you or with the management of your business.

How we handle your data

• Your data is stored in a Supabase project in the European Union (Frankfurt).
• The website you are reading now uses no cookies. With one exception — the depreciation calculator — it does not load any JavaScript either; that calculator runs entirely in your own browser and sends nothing.
• The tool itself keeps your login session in your browser, so you do not have to log in again on every visit.
• Each user sees only their own businesses and financial years; that is protected at database level.
• Back-ups are stored encrypted and cannot be opened without the passphrase.
• What you file with KVK is public. What you enter in the tool and do not file is not.

Why no subscription

You prepare your annual accounts once a year. A monthly fee does not fit that, so you pay per financial year — and only when you are satisfied and want to download the documents. First you enter everything and view the result.
